The Wonder We Are Born With - Mamàhtawisiwin

This artwork celebrates the understanding that every person enters the world with unique gifts, strengths, and limitless potential. Like a seed planted in the earth, we all carry within us the capacity to grow. Through care, encouragement, and a sense of belonging, those gifts are nurtured and given the opportunity to thrive.

Growth is a lifelong journey of exploring, emerging, evolving, and embedding. As our roots deepen, we become grounded in the relationships, experiences, and values that shape who we are. Like a tree rooted firmly in the earth while reaching toward the sky, we draw strength from our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

The four guiding questions of Mamahtawisiwin invite us to reflect throughout every stage of life:

Who am I? Where do I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going?

These questions encourage us to discover our gifts, strengthen our connections, and find our place within the world.

Stretching across the sky, the starry sky reminds us of the wonder we are born with, a light that exists within every person. Beneath them, seeds take root, and growth unfolds in its own time. Every journey is unique, yet we are all connected through the relationships and communities that help us grow.

May this artwork serve as a reminder that every person deserves the opportunity to be deeply rooted, wholeheartedly supported, and celebrated for who they are. When we create spaces where everyone belongs, we create space for every gift to emerge and every person to grow into the fullest expression of themselves.
